May 17, 2010

Yesterday’s sermon (MP3) can now be downloaded here. Jonah was a prophet whom God had used to speak to his people Israel. The rich young ruler

May 10, 2010

Yesterday (Sunday 9th May)’s sermon is now available for download. “A young, rich, successful man came running to Jesus, and humbly asked him to tell him about eternal life. What a hopeful sign! Surely we would delight to have such people coming to our churches. But in fact, Jesus allowed him to go away when it became clear that the young man was not willing to make the sacrifices of the kingdom. This is a powerful and important passage to tell us the truth about the impossibility of salvation without God first turning our hearts right around.”

In Mark 10:1-12, which was the passage for our sermon on 25th April, the Pharisees asked Jesus a question about marriage and divorce. Jesus’ answer not only answered the question, but gave us wide-ranging and powerful teaching about authority, human sexuality and relationships. It also draws us to him, as the one who washes us clean and is fully faithful clean our many sins and failings. Download the MP3 file here.
